Change
A few thoughts on Change from Barney Wells "Leading Through Change"
Four motivations for change.
Internal
"Change means movement. Movement means friction. Only in the frictionless vacuum of a nonexistent abstract world can movement or change occur without that abrasive friction of conflict." Saul Alinsky
"Life is an active process of becoming. If you haven't added to your interest during the past year; if you are thinking the same thoughts, relating the same personal experiences, having the same predictable reactions -- rigor mortis of the personality has set in." General Douglas MacArthur
"A person who never changes is either perfect or stubborn."
Four motivations for change.
Internal
- Dissatisfaction- You become aware of other options
- Discomfort- There is a painful element to it
- Coercion- You are forced to change
- Displacement- You don't have an option not to change
