Leadership Lessons
I'm learning a lot in this time of life, even though it is a time of life where I feel like all I am doing is waiting for things to happen so I can learn. We had a staff meeting this past week and a man that I have been longing to learn from spoke up on leadership. Here are a few of the things I pulled from the time together.
Leadership – -You have to regularly evaluate what is the best leadership structure.
-There is no magic structure. Structure yourself to get to the next level; then you may have to re-structure.
-It is easier to invite people to the team than to un-invite them. Be cautious about who you ask to be part of your leadership team. Consider first asking just one person to help you think about your area of ministry.

o Have your goal be to empower your team, not to delegate.
- Delegation says, “I’m busy; I need your help.”
- Empowerment says, “I believe you are called and gifted in this area better than me.”
o Your team needs to be more than consultants. They need to take ownership of a piece of the pie. Opinions come easy from consultants, if they don’t have skin in the game.
o In order to give away influence you have to first gain it.
